What CPR and First Aid classes do you offer in Connecticut?

We offer nationally recognized CPR, AED, and First Aid certification classes through:

  • American Red Cross (ARC)
  • American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Health & Safety Institute (HSI)

Courses include:

  • First Aid/CPR/AED (Adult & Pediatric or Adult-only)
  • CPR/AED certification (no First Aid)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers
  • Stop the Bleed training
  • Bloodborne Pathogens certification

Classes are available at our Hamden location or on-site at your workplace or organization in Connecticut.

What is blended learning for CPR or First Aid classes?

Blended learning is a combination of:

  • Online coursework (completed on your own time)
  • In-person skills session with a certified instructor

This format allows you to learn the material online and then demonstrate your skills in a hands-on environment.

Do I need to complete the online portion before class?

Yes — this is required for all blended learning CPR and First Aid classes.

  • The online portion must be fully completed before your scheduled class
  • You must show proof of completion upon arrival

Students who do not complete the online portion or cannot provide proof will not be allowed to participate and may forfeit their payment. Rescheduling is at the discretion of You Can Be Prepared and may include a rescheduling fee.

How long does a CPR or First Aid class take?

Blended learning:

  • Online portion: approximately 2–3 hours
  • In-person session: approximately 1.5–3 hours

Fully instructor-led classes:

  • Typically 3–5 hours, depending on course type
What happens during the in-person CPR class?

Your hands-on training includes:

  • CPR skills (adult, child, infant as applicable)
  • AED (Automated External Defibrillator) use
  • First Aid skills (if included)
  • Real-life emergency scenarios
  • Skills testing for certification
What should I bring to my CPR class?
  • Proof of online course completion (for blended learning)
  • Comfortable clothing (hands-on participation required)
  • A valid email address for certification delivery
What time should I arrive for class?

Please plan to arrive 5–15 minutes early to allow time for check-in and sign-in.

Students arriving late may not be allowed to join and will need to reschedule.

What is your rescheduling and cancellation policy?
  • 72 hours' notice required to reschedule
  • Late changes may be subject to a fee
  • No-shows or last-minute cancellations may forfeit payment
Do you offer CPR classes near me or on-site training?

Yes. We provide on-site CPR, AED, and First Aid training at your workplace as well as classes at our Hamden, CT training location:

Group training is available for businesses, schools, camps, and organizations. A minimum number of participants may be required for on-site classes.

Do you offer discounts for CPR training?

Yes — several discounts are available:

  • Scout Discount: Scout leaders — reach out before booking for a special Scout discount code
  • First Responder Discount: Available for active first responders
When will I receive my CPR certification card?
  • Certifications are issued by ARC, AHA, or HSI
  • Most are delivered same day to within 48 hours via email
What if I lose my CPR certification card?

Replacement cards are available through the certifying organization and may require a fee. Please ensure your email is entered correctly at registration.

Do your First Aid classes include EpiPen training?

Yes. Standard First Aid training includes:

  • Recognition of anaphylaxis
  • EpiPen (epinephrine auto-injector) use

A separately documented EpiPen skills add-on is available through the American Red Cross if required.

Can CPR training be customized for my workplace or group?

Yes. Training can be customized to include:

  • Workplace-specific scenarios
  • Combined courses (First Aid/CPR/AED with add-ons)
  • Stop the Bleed or Bloodborne Pathogens training
What if I cannot kneel or have physical limitations?

Please contact us in advance. We will do our best to provide accommodations while meeting certification requirements.

What happens if a class is canceled?

If a class must be canceled due to weather, illness, or emergency:

  • You will be offered a rescheduled date, or
  • A credit toward a future class
What ages can take CPR and First Aid classes?
  • CPR/AED & First Aid: Generally recommended for ages 10 and up (younger students may attend with prior approval)
  • Babysitting Training: Typically designed for ages 11–15
  • BLS (Healthcare Provider): Recommended for teens and adults entering or working in healthcare
  • Stop the Bleed: Suitable for teens and adults
